What is Acupuncture?
The type of acupuncture that Jess practices is based on the concepts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). According to TCM, health is dependent on the body's vital energy or 'Qi' flowing freely in a smooth, balanced way throughout the body. It flows through a series of channels beneath the skin.
A blockage or imbalance in the flow of Qi can cause ill-health or pain.
Any number of factors can disturb the body's flow of Qi, including injury, infections and poor nutrition as well as emotional states such as anxiety, anger or grief.
Acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles at specific points along the channels. The aim is to remove energetic blocks, balance the Qi and restore health.
Treatment is aimed at the root of your condition as well as the symptoms. Ultimately, this approach can lead to a more permanent state of wellbeing and improved health.
